Black Widow To Be Released In Summer

Black Widow To Be Released In Summer

You don’t know everything about me. I’ve lived a lot of lives…

Natasha Romanoff – Black Widow Trailer

It goes without saying that Black Widow is the perfect title to kick off Marvel’s Phase Four and I’m sure I’m not the only person who said ‘It’s about time’ when they announced they were to begin production on the movie back in July 2019. Almost two years later we have all the information we need to get us good and hyped for the movie’s release on the 9th July this year.

Everything We Know About Black Widow So Far

Not only will we be able to see this in cinemas (at the time of writing theatres are open in the UK), but we can also watch the movie via Premier Access on Disney+ on the same date. If you’re unsure what this means for Disney+, fear not. Premier Access simply means that the viewer can pay a fee in order to watch it in the comfort of their home, rather than venturing out into the world to see it in cinemas.

Cast, Crew And Characters of Black Widow

Scarlett Johansson is set to reprise her role of Natasha Romanoff AKA The Black Widow in a movie directed by Cate Shortland. We also have numerous other talented cast members including: Florence Pugh (Midsommer) as Yelena Belova, Rachel Weisz (The Mummy) as Melina Vostokoff and David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Alexei Shostakoff. In addition to this we have the named villain of the piece. The Taskmaster, who is a seemingly powerful foe whose actor has yet to be revealed.

Black Widow Movie Cast and Information

Recently, Marvel confirmed the rating of Black Widow to be PG-13, much like various other movies in their library. With thematic material such as strong language, and scenes of violence and aggression which is to be expected in an action/adventure genre.

Black Widow Plot Speculation

Numerous sources online have confirmed that the plot of Black Widow occurs between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War, at a time where Natasha is laying low alongside Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes and various other former Avengers. It could be speculated that during her time in hiding she turned her attention towards rekindling past relationships in her home country that were damaged after her defection to S.H.I.E.L.D.

In the emotional trailer, below, we see clips from Civil War and Infinity War reminding the viewer of the fate of Natasha. It’s like Marvel couldn’t help but open up old wounds, you know? If you haven’t seen Infinity War or Endgame yet, I recommend you do so as soon as possible.

Here,we see shots of Alexei, Yelena and Melina indicating a close-knit relationship with the heroin along with some action shots and dialogue from Natasha. And yet, with all this information in mind and understanding that Black Widow returns in Infinity War, it brings to mind the question ‘What happens to these associates throughout this piece?’.

We could also finally have Natasha’s origin story revealed to us as there’s never been a definitive and clear answer. This could be indicated by the two young actors who have been cast as younger versions of Natasha herself and Yelena. This could imply the use of flashbacks and an insight into their upbringing.

Black Widow’s Origins In A Nutshell (Spoiler Alert)

If you don’t want items of information that could potentially spoil the narrative of the film, please stop here as I am to briefly summarize the most known points about Black Widows origins and the identity of Taskmaster

Natasha’s Early Life

Natasha Romanoff AKA Natalia Alianovna Romanova, was orphaned at a very early age to be adopted and raised by a man known as Ivan Petrovitch Bezukhov. Natasha was trained in the ways of deception, combat, espionage and various other attributes that would build her into the ultimate assassin, that we know and love.

In the comics, it is revealed that Natasha trained in The Red Room as part of the Black Widow programme under the instructions of the KGB. Not only does this programme train and mould Romanoff but it manipulates her mentality and continuously draws her back to the organisation.

Black Widow | Disney Movies

Despite there being no hint at this next detail in the MCU, it is known that The Black Widow(s) are subjected to biological enhancements which will prolong their lifespan and allow them to keep their youthful appearance.
Natasha eventually lands herself on the task of infiltrating Stark Industries which will provoke a string of events that would lead to her defection.

The Taskmaster

The Taskmaster or Anthony ‘Tony’ Masters will be an interesting villain for the film due to his unusual abilities. This Villain can replicate any action he observes with ease, duplicating the skill with precision and in a world full of superheroes, this can be deadly.

So with all this information and all that we can learn about The Black Widow character, Marvel has a plethora of resources to make this movie incredible – and I’m certain we will not be let down.

In My Humble Opinion (It’s ok if you stop here, I’m still going to write it anyway)

I believe this movie has come at the best time. The Black Widow has been on our screens and in our comic books for a long time. Her first comic book appearance was in 1964, and I think it’s a wonderful gesture to give Natasha a film to commemorate her character and her sacrifice following the events Endgame.

Natasha Romanoff is a gifted agent with immense talents. And it’s amazing to see the spotlight on her this time, as her skills, intellect, wit and loyalty often get overlooked in favour of Gods, super-soldiers, billionaires with shiny, metal death suits or immortal, green rage monsters.
