Dining with the Dead Product Overview

Dining with the Dead Product Overview

Every amazing invention starts with a simple idea. Kickstarter The Day of The Dead, or Día de Muertos, celebrates and honours the lives of those that have been lost. With feasting, flowers, costumes, colour, and prayer. It is a beautiful tradition, and an essential holiday to help those that have lost loved ones to process that loss in a healthy, and positive way. Dining with the Dead is a cookbook designed by Mariana Nuño-Ruiz and Ian McEnroe to help people to prepare for the feasting associated with this stunning holiday.

Dining with the Dead Product Overview

Traditional Mexican cuisine is vibrant, flavourful, and filled with love and passion – much like the Day of the Dead. Therefore it seems only fitting that a cookbook should be designed to combine these two staples of Mexican culture. It had been gradually developed over five years. It is a labour of love, made to introduce the reader to a new, rich world of Mexican flavours.

The book tells the story of the author duo’s trip to Mexico, where Ian McEnroe and Mariana Nuño-Ruiz McEnroe went to experience Día de Muertos for themselves. The feasts of this celebration (which lasts from October 21st – November 2nd) are an integral part of the tradition. It provides the souls of the departed with delicious food to enjoy whilst they visit their families and enjoy the company, music, and stories that go along with the food and drink.

After visiting Mexico to experience and celebrate the Day of the Dead in all of its glory, Ian and Mariana had an idea. Their experiences during the vibrant celebration of life, death, and those “ahead of us”, sparked their plan for Dining with the Dead. Inspired by the vibrant colours, smells, flavours, and overall feel of the holiday they developed this cookbook. Their intention being to help others to get in touch with the celebration through their food.

Dining with the Dead Kickstarter Information

With 23 days to go and a pledge of £14,374, Dining with the Dead still has half of the way to go. The pledge amount currently sits at £7,500 with 170 backers showing their interest in the project. But without the full £14,374, this heartwarming cookbook won’t come to fruition. Fortunately, the money that has been raised so far has been done in a relatively short timeframe. As a result, we are hopeful that the full amount will be pledged before the campaign ends.

If you would like to back the campaign, feel free to take a look at the Dining with the Dead Kickstarter page for further information.

Opinions

This is a stunning cookbook filled with delicious recipes. It is clear that the design and development have been a labour of love. And with that, we know that anyone looking to buy it will put just as much love into their cooking. Unfortunately, it is not available to UK pledgers at this time, but that doesn’t mean you can’t back them to support the idea. We certainly hope that this book gains enough popularity to one day become available worldwide. This would give everyone a chance to enjoy the tasty culinary treats and educational delights designed and provided by Mariana and Ian.
